Use Add Quantity for incoming stock and Adjust Quantity for a verified correction. Keeping those purposes separate preserves useful purchase history and makes changes to stock balances easier to explain.
Restocking and reconciliation answer different questions
Add Quantity records additional stock as a new batch with its purchase details. Adjust Quantity supports a count-based correction for the product’s batches, including actual quantities, disposed items and comments. The resulting audit record and timeline help explain why the balance changed. Before adjusting, check whether a missing sale, purchase or transfer should be recorded through its own workflow instead.
Step by step
Identify why the quantity changed
Decide whether goods arrived, stock moved through an ordinary transaction, or a physical count revealed a difference.
Add a new receipt
For incoming stock, choose Add Quantity and enter the delivery’s quantity, pricing and relevant batch details. Save and review the new batch.
Reconcile a verified difference
For a correction, choose Adjust Quantity and review each batch. Enter actual counts, disposed quantities where relevant and an explanation.
Check the outcome
Review the summary before saving, then verify the product total, affected batches and audit or timeline entry.
Review actual and disposed fields together so the same loss is not counted twice. Use the displayed summary to confirm the intended balance before saving.
Before you move on
- Choose the action that matches the real event.
- Check the affected batch and quantity units.
- Leave an explanation and verify the resulting audit record.
